VTOT: VIDEO TOOLS ON TAP
© 1988 by Mike Berro - FreeWare
-------------------------------
Version 1.00 11-Jul-88
VTOT V1.00 is FreeWare, and may be distributed at no charge. This text
file must be included with the program.
VTOT is a collection of tools and effects useful when recording Amiga
output onto video tape. It can run in the background, and the commands are
available at any time.
VTOT commands are initiated by holding down the LEFT-SHIFT and the
LEFT- AMIGA keys, and then pressing the appropriate letter key. The VTOT
window does not have to be "active". That means that the commands will
function even when running another program. However, see notes, below.
There are three types of commands: Display, Effects, and Miscellaneous.
The "Display" commands are grouped near the top of the window. B, C, F,
G, L, and P each displays the appropriate image in front of whatever else is
being displayed. X deletes that image. Each image is full overscan
(368x484). Your screen should be exactly centered according to preferences
(not your monitor!) or fringing on the right edge of the image will result.
The "Effects" commands are grouped in the middle of the window. These
commands only have an effect on the topmost (i.e. visible) screen. These
are potentially dangerous commands. It is not likely they will crash the
software, but they can make it very confusing for you. The effects are all
reversible, but garbage can result if both VTOT and the original program are
changing the screen display. For example, if you flip the Workbench screen,
the screen title will reappear at the top, because it is constantly being
updated (use Redraw to fix it). For this reason, use these commands only on
static images.
The "Miscellaneous" commands are grouped at the bottom of the window
and are described below.
DISPLAY COMMANDS
----------------
B Black Screen Displays a black screen with proper setup level.
C SMPTE Color Bars Displays SMPTE color bars.
F Full-field Color Bars Displays full-field color bars.
G Grey Scale Displays 16 level grey scale pattern.
L Line Pattern Displays horizontal and vertical lines.
P Show s:VTOT.pic Displays IFF picture stored in file "s:VTOT.pic".
EFFECTS COMMANDS
----------------
N Negate Colors Negates the colors.
V Vertical Flip Does a mirror flip on a center horizontal axis.
V Horizontal Flip Does a mirror flip on a center vertical axis.
D Fade Down Fades to black.
U Fade Up Fades up from from black (true fadeup).
0-9 Fade Speed Changes the fade speed (9 being slowest).
MISCELLANEOUS COMMANDS
----------------------
I Toggle Interlace This command does not affect screen resolution.
S Shuffle Screens This sends the front screen to the back.
W Window Size Toggles between the large and small VTOT window.
Q Quit VTOT Exits. Fade will be restored, and image removed.
NOTES
-----
This program should not cause any system problems but could easily
cause visual confusion if used indiscriminately. It is designed to help the
recording process only.
Most of the functions will not work properly with animation programs.
Only one VTOT window is allowed at one time.
If you have any questions, suggestions or comments (especially nice
ones), let me know. I will continue to support the Amiga for video as long
as there is interest in my doing so. Reach me on CompuServe at [73267,3361],
on the "1939" BBS at (818) 368-4248, or write me: Mike Berro, BCS Software,
